About

richard shawcross vaillant engineer

Welcome to my website, my name is Richard Shawcross. I am a Gas Safe registered independent Vaillant service and repair engineer.

I provide a much needed efficient Vaillant boiler repair service to a clientele in South Yorkshire, including most of Sheffield, Barnsley and Rotherham and a very small part of Doncaster.

About the service I provide

Providing an excellent, efficient, friendly and transparent Vaillant boiler repair service are among my highest priorities. I provide a valuable service, and providing a positive customer experience is very important to me.

I do believe that there is no one else in the area that I serve that provides a better Vaillant Boiler Repair Service than the service I currently offer.

I do believe that for what I charge you will struggle to find any other independent, Gas Safe registered heating industry professional(s), who can provide a better, more efficient service, that costs the same or less.

How I provide such a excellent service

I can provide an excellent service as I am extremely reliable, I have a vast amount of knowledge and experience, combined with a respectful can-do attitude, and a large variety of Vaillant ecotec boiler spares which I carry as stock.

I am Gas Safe registered, I have liability insurance and I have been in business since April 2014.

About myself

Vaillant boiler repairs is my thing. I do the work I do because I love it. I like the people I meet. I love technology. I come across interesting problems to solve and I meet a lot of interesting people along the way.

I provide an essential service for customers with Vaillant boilers – especially Combi boilers. I have the confidence to say that you can call me to any Vaillant ecoTEC and I can fix whatever the issue may be, usually within one visit.

Surveys have shown that customers don’t want flash tradesmen, just someone who turns up and can fix the problem. This is exactly the type of service I provide.

You will struggle to find anyone else independent who has the same level of experience as I do with fixing Vaillant boilers, or that carry the same amount of spares as I do, or is as eager to help repair a boiler as I am.

I service and repair all models of the Vaillant ecoTEC, including the first and second generation of boilers. It is fair to say that I carry a large amount of Vaillant ecotec boiler spares.

My Gas Safe registration number is 538863.

My registered address is 25 Thornhill Place, Wath Upon Dearne, Rotherham, S63 6SN.

My experience

Over the last 7 years or so most of the time I have spent as a heating industry professional has been predominently on boiler and central heating repairs. The vast majority of boilers installed in the U.K. are Combi boilers and most of my experience has been fixing Combi boilers and derivatives of Combi’s(system boilers etc).

A large percentage of the Combi boilers I have experience repairing are the Vaillant ecotec range, ecoMAX range and even the older turboMAX models.

Other boilers I have a lot of experience repairing include the Worcester Greenstar range, Ideal Logic and Baxi boilers.

I love working on the Vaillant ecoTEC range the most though I have to say. From an engineering point of view they are well designed and I think they are one of the easiest boilers to work on as most of the components are easily accessible.

For these reasons over the last 4 – 5 years I have decided to focus almost exclusively on Vaillant repairs and servicing.

I also have quite a good electrical knowledge, which is vital when it comes to fault finding and solving problems on central heating systems which are larger and more complex than the average Combi boiler type of system.

I have a lot of experience repairing more complex systems, and a very good electrical understanding of zone valve and three port valve operation, and how components on complex systems integrate with each other.

About this website.

I have put this website together myself. I am not a web designer, but I have tried my best to make it look presentable, structure it in a logical way and make it easy to navigate.

The information on this website is designed to help homeowners with Vaillant boilers find someone suitable for service and repairs at a fair price.

Any heating industry professional or homeowner looking for technical advice or support should contact Vaillant technical support directly and not myself.

They get paid to help you and are in a much better position to help you than I am.

Certain information on this site may not be accurate and is based on my experiences servicing and repairing Vaillant boilers.

As such, any information on this site cannot be relied upon for attempting to carry out your own repairs on boilers.

Anyone working on Gas boilers in the U.K. should to be qualified, competent and Gas Safe registered. My Gas Safe registration number is 538863.

Please note that I do not work for or represent Vaillant Group International GmbH or any of its subsidiaries. Any opinions regarding Vaillant or any of their products on this website are my own personal views.

Privacy policy

I use your personal information only for providing and improving the Site. By using the site, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.

Terms and conditions

Listed below is a general outline of the terms and conditions I work by.
For a complete list of these terms please visit my terms and conditions page by clicking here.

Normal Hours of operation

I do not provide 24hr emergency services. My normal hours of operation are typically between 09:00 and 17:00 Monday to Friday.

Working on a weekend is at my discretion and is typically for emergency boiler repairs only.

Payment terms

Payments can be accepted by Cash, Card or a Bank Transfer. Cheques are not acceptable. Payment terms are payment on completion or within 7 days of completion of any work, and submission of invoice (by prior arrangement).

The cost of my services

Regarding a boiler or central heating repair, it generally takes up to an hour to assess any given boiler or system properly to determine the extent of what it may or may not need, and how long it will take to repair.

The cost of this first hour goes towards the total amount of time any boiler or central heating repair takes, however I do expect to be paid for the first hour.

After I have made a thorough assessment within the first hour, I can usually provide a quote for the total cost of any boiler or central heating repair.

If you are able to provide me with all the details of your faults/problems with your boiler before I attend, then I can usually provide you with a very accurate estimate of the total cost of any given repair.

So as mentioned I do expect to paid for this first hour I spend assessing a boiler or heating system.

For the first hour I typically charge £70 for the average domestic boiler or central heating repair. Thereafter I charge £60 per hour.

For more information on the cost of my services please check my Pricing page.

Right of refusal

I have the right to refuse to provide a service to any individual or business should I choose not to take on a particular job for any reason.

In general I will not offer my services directly to estate agencies, property management companies, insurance companies or any company managing a landlords property on their behalf.

I like to keep things simple and mainly prefer to offer my services directly to private individuals.

Third parties tend to add extra complications and ideally I prefer dealing directly with whoever is ultimately paying the bill.

Having said that, I am happy to offer my services to private landlords who manage their own properties, providing that the tenants, or whoever provides me access to the property are able to provide a degree of flexibility that I am happy with.

I do not typically offer my services outside of my designated area of coverage, but occasionally I will depending on the nature of the job and whether I can fit it in around my other jobs, or if a customer is happy to pay a little bit more. This is at my discretion.
