This was a little service I did on a Vaillant TURBOmax Plus 824/2E I did for a customer in Doncaster in recently.
I don’t work on as many of these old TURBOmax’s anymore, there are still quite a few around but they are getting replaced and are slowly being phased out for newer high efficiency condensing models. Having said that, they are a good reliable little boiler and are usually worth fixing when they go wrong.
There are 18 jets which shot the gas into the burner and sometimes these can get blocked which can cause ignition problems occasionally. Like all combi boilers, the expansion vessel needs to be checked and recharged periodically as to avoid problems when using the central heating. Also the diverter valves in these can be a problem, so their operation needs to be tested and checked for leaks.
Vaillant stopped manufacturing this models around 2005 when the ecoTEC models superseded them. So if you have an old TURBOmax it will be at least 13 years old, and could be closer to 18 years old at the time of writing this. As far as repairs go you can still get all the parts for these models as far as I know.

I cover most of Barnsley including central Barnsley, Birdwell, Stairfoot, Worsborough, Kendray, Ardsley, Athersley, Monk Bretton, Lundwood, Royston, Brierley, Cudworth, Cortonwood, Great Houghton, Shafton, South Hiendley, Brampton, Darfield, Wombwell, Hemingfield, Elsecar, Hoyland, Jump, Barugh Green, Cawthorne, Darton, Dodworth, Gawber, Mapplewell, Pogmoor, Staincross, Wilthorpe, Worsbrough, Thurnscoe and Tankersley.
Doncaster:
I cover a small part of Doncaster including central Adwick, Conisborough, Edlington, Warmsworth and Mexborough.
